Barbie was always a favorite of mine and I really liked playing with RC toys as well. Admittedly, I was way worse at the latter and often crashed my RC toys more than I did anything else. Playing with the Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll combined to favorites into one. It is designed durably and with built in assist features to help with landing and maneuverability, it seems that this toy may have been designed with crazy drivers like myself in mind.
Unboxing the Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll wasn’t too difficult. You will need a pair of scissors because she is secured in the package with several plastic zip ties. Included in the packaging are Barbie (who is not removable from her hoverboard) and a remote control for the hoverboard. Also included are replacement propellers, a USB cord for charging and the instruction manual.
Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll is made of a durable foam material for shock absorption and maximum durability. The only rigid plastic pieces are the propellers themselves which are housed safely within the foam housing. While the hoverboard itself is rechargeable, the remote control requires 3 AAA batteries in order to be functional.
The Playtime Experience
Playing with the Barbie Star Light Hoverboard was actually a lot of fun. Flying RC toys was never my forte but I was actually able to fly Barbie with a little practice. The remote control has several buttons to make operating her a breeze. There is a launch/land button and a button to make her spin 360 degrees. The rest of the remote is standard with height adjustment and multidirectional joystick.
Things I Liked
I love that the Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll is designed to be durable and withstand many crashes. The additional pieces for potential breakage was also a smart idea. The launch/land button is actually my favorite feature though because it makes it so easy to easily start and end play time without risking injury to yourself or the hoverboard.
Things I Didn’t Like
When playing with the Babie Star Light Hoverboard I noticed that even when you set the height limit she will occasionally rise quickly toward the ceiling without notice. I didn’t like that because, being an inexperienced RC driver it often made it difficult for me to control her effectively.
Appropriate Ages
The Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll is recommended for children 8-12. In my opinion, this is probably the best recommendation for age groups that will find Barbie entertaining. I don’t think many children under 8 will have the hand eye coordination to operate her effectively. But she is rather easy to fly when compared to other RC flying toys and children over 12 may desire something a bit more challenging.
Barbie Flying RC Hoverboard Doll: Worth it?
My final assessment of Barbie Star Light Adventure Flying RC Hoverboard Doll is she is a solid buy for any family looking for a simple but entertaining RC flying toy. I love her durable, parent friendly design and the recharging abilities of the hoverboard itself. If you are looking for an RC flying toy good for beginners this is a good buy for that purpose.
Even a bad driver like myself can operate the Barbie RC Hoverboard Doll with ease. I love the parent friendly design as she is both rechargeable and made of durable, shock resistant foam. The assist features on the remote make landing and take off a breeze. In my opinion, a great first RC toy for any Barbie Fan.
