Educational Insights Design & Drill Brightworks Review

I love toys that encourage creativity and hands on play. The Educational Insights Design & Drill Brightworks checks both of those boxes and then some. This adorable hands on toy provides a great way to bring creativity and light to play time.

Unboxing

It was easy to unbox the Design & Drill playset. The box was shrink wrapped and once that was removed it was easy to open. Inside the box there was one Brightworks board, a bag of translucent and brightly colored “bolts” and one hand drill. Also inside were instructions for play and 12 patterns to get you started. I had to install 3 AA batteries in order to play.

The Playtime Experience

The play experience with the Educational Insights Design & Drill Brightworks is actually a lot of fun. You can use the realistic Drill to secure the bolts in place and then watch your pattern come to life when you turn on the lights! You can either follow one of the 12 patterns included or “freestyle” your design. Either way it is a lot of fun and I can see a lot of play time possibilities with this toy.

Things I Liked

I love the creativity this toy allows. The drill is also very cute and creates a unique way to play along.

Things I Didn't Like

I wish that there had been at least two of the drills included so more than one child can play at a time. However, the price point on this set is reasonable so it wouldn’t be unrealistic to purchase two.

Appropriate Ages

Players over 3 are recommended for the Educational Insights Design & Drill Brightworks set. The bolts could be a potential choking hazard for younger kids and I am not sure anyone younger than 3 would even have the motor skills to play with this toy appropriately.

Final Note

I loved my play time with the Design & Drill Brightworks set. I had a lot of fun and wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this for my son as he gets a little older. I love toys that encourage creativity and get kids away from the screen so this toy is a big hit in my book.
