Unboxing

Unboxing the Speak Out Game is standard, just like any board game. The box was wrapped in plastic wrap and once removed the box was easy to open. Inside the Speak Out box there are two stacks of cards, a sand dial timer and several mouthpieces, which are required for game play. The game play instructions are on the back of the box which is very convenient.

The Playtime Experience

The goal of the Hasbro Speak Out Game is to read the phrase on the card as clearly as possible. This is made difficult only because in order to play the game you have to wear a mouthpiece which restricts your ability to enunciate clearly. Each team is to get through as many cards as possible before the time runs out!

Things I Liked

I like that the Speak Out Game is so different from other games. It is unique and fun to play. It is sure to have everyone laughing and having a good time by being silly. Making memories is a huge part of playing board games as a family and this game is great for that in my opinion.

Things I Didn't Like

There are only 5 mouth pieces included in the game. I highly doubt teammates will want to share the mouth pieces and I am not so sure I would feel great about using these again and again. Boiled, washed or otherwise pieces that go in the mouth are just not meant for repeat use or sharing.

Appropriate Ages

Surprisingly the Hasbro Speak Out Game is marked for people over sixteen years of age and older. I didn’t see any card inside that were wildly suggestive like I had suspected with that age restriction. I have to think it has more to do with the mouth piece size than anything else.

Final Note

My final note on the Hasbro Speak Out Game is fairly positive. I really like the concept of the game and that it is so unique. It is reasonably priced and sure to get the party going. However, the reusable mouthpieces leave me a little “cringy”. As a mom (and admitted germaphobe) I am not sure I can love this game knowing my friends will have these pieces in their mouths and they are supposed to be reused.
