Unboxing

The unboxing for this toy was simple and easy to do. Once opening the box I was able to remove each of the two HEXBUG battle droids and two bags with the walls and pylons. The battle droids come with batteries installed and 3 extras. They also come with a color coded remote which is also preloaded with batteries. All you have to do is set up the walls and get to play time.

The Playtime Experience

When you turn on the remote control it will sync with the first signal it receives so you have to be careful to do it in a proper order so the blue remote syncs with the blue droid and the orange likewise. The droids work by battling with laser light, the gun and the receiving sensor are each on the top of the droids. When you fire there is a corresponding firing sound and when you have been “hit” the top of your droid will turn red and make a noise, signaling the loss of a point. Firing and movement are all controlled by the small remote. Each droid is able to turn around 360 degrees and moves forward or back in the direction it is facing.

The walls fit into the pylons to stand up on their own. The light can be bounced off the walls to add some strategy to the game.

Things I Liked

I really liked this game a lot. It was ready to go right out of the package and even came with extra batteries. I really like that the droid can move in any direction it faces.

Things I Didn't Like

I didn’t find that the HEXBUG battle droids moved very well on carpeting. That was a little disappointing for me but it is just as easy to play on a table, which turned out a lot better.

Appropriate Ages

The recommendation for player age is eight and older for the HEXBUG Battle Toy. I think younger kids could also enjoy this toy but the droids are somewhat delicate so that should be taken into consideration.

Final Note

I really really enjoyed the HEXBUG Battle Ground Tower Toy. It was surprisingly fun and addicting. I had a lot of fun playing this with my husband actually. It was cool to test all the ways you can bounce the lights off the walls and strategize for the win! I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this again and will definitely be keeping it in mind for a gift idea.
