LeapFrog Scout’s Learning Lights Remote (Realistic Pretend Play)

Small children love to emulate their parents, and often love to steal things like smart phones, keys, computers, remotes…etc. In my opinion if you are going to give a child something to “replace” this wanted item, It has to look like the original. The LeapFrog Scout’s Learning Lights Remote not only does a good job of looking like a “real” remote, it also offers education, songs and more child-friendly activities!

Unboxing

To unbox the Learning Lights Remote, once the box is open you have to unfold the cardboard insert from the box. Once that is pulled out of the box there are two, black twist clips in the back to pull out. Once these are pulled out, the remote falls right out of the package and is ready to play.

The Playtime Experience

The LeapFrog Scout’s Learning Lights Remote has a face along the top of the unit that lights up different shapes and colors. The number buttons on the unit count out the numbers and lights up the equal amount of number lights on the face. There is a weather function and a music function as well.

Things I Liked

I really like that this look so like a real remote.

Things I Didn't Like

There is a shapes and numbers game built into the LeapFrog Learning Remote. It asks you how many lights or shapes are lit up and I thought that meant you would touch the corresponding number on the unit. However, it seems that was a rhetorical question since touching the numbers on the unit just changes the function.

Final Note

I love the LeapFrog Scout’s Learning Lights Remote. It is so realistic and I like the musical features included inside. The number and shape game seems rather odd since it doesn’t actually want you to answer the questions and I found it a bit confusing for that reason. Otherwise, it was a great little toy and I recommend it!
