Any beauty channel on Youtube, Instagram, Facebook…etc will give you plenty of manicure examples using a technique of drawing a pattern in water and dipping your finger in for a unique, marbled manicure. The Project Mc2 H2O Nail Science Kit is a playset that makes it easy to do this manicure technique at home and even dry your manicure with the built in nail dryer!

Unboxing

This Nail Science Kit is packaged in a few pieces which are easy to assemble together. The main unity requires 3 AA batteries to operate the light and nail dryer. There are 3 rotating stands for holding the nail polish bottles of your choice as well as a water basin, several pipettes, and a stirring stick for drawing the pattern in the paint. There were also a few plastic, fake nails and stickers for attaching them. However, the stickers were definitely not strong enough to hold the nails in place for any meaningful amount of time and nails were of a very thick and cheap plastic. I didn’t use them because they looked so unnatural and impractical.

The Playtime Experience

This set makes it easy to do a marbled manicure. The pipettes are supposed to be used for dropping the nail polish on the water in the basin but I found it just as easy to use the brush and drop it in from the brush. The nail polishes are not included but that gives you the opportunity to try several mixtures to your preference. The nail polish when dropped on the water, floats on top. The stir stick is then drug through the mixture several times to create a unique pattern. Then you dip your nails in and voila! A totally unique marbled manicure. You will need to tape around your nails to make clean up easier and I highly recommend having acetone or nail polish remover on hand for easy clean up. Once you’ve got everything looking how you like it, you can press the button in the nail dryer and let the fan dry your nails to manicure perfection.

Things I Liked

I like how easy this set makes it to make a beautiful manicure. The stands for holding the nail polish are very convenient and move easily in and out of the work area.

Things I Didn't Like

Clean-up was a bit difficult with this set. As soon as you empty the water basin, any remaining nail polish sticks to the side of the basin and it takes a decent amount of acetone/nail polish remover to clean it properly.

Appropriate Ages

Although Project MC2 is recommending this set for children 8 and older. I can see younger children being able to play if they had the help of an adult. I also can see this being very convenient at any age. If you like a well done manicure and an easy station for working. This set checks both boxes regardless of age.

Final Note

I struggled a little bit with clean up for the Project Mc2 H2O Nail Science Kit but overall I really did like it. I think this set makes it easy to do a quite technical manicure technique. This great part is, no two manicures will ever be the same and the combinations are endless!
