As a little girl my sister and I always played mystery and spy games. I was the kid who spent my allowance on walkie talkies and spy gear for our many adventures. I would have loved to get my hands on the Project MC2 Secret Message Decoder Rings and Necklace. I was able to review this set this week and while it isn’t fancy it is pretty fun.

Unboxing

The Decoder Rings are packaged with a plastic face and cardboard backing. Once these are separated all the pieces are easy to remove. You can use the Decoder Rings as a ring or a necklace with the included lanyards. The instructions walk you through how to use the set to send secret messages and gives examples to help understand the concept.

The Playtime Experience

Using the Project MC2 Secret Message Decoder Rings and Necklace is a simple concept. You set one letter on the ring to a certain value numbered 1-26. If you say A=3 you can right out a message in numbers and spin the the decoder ring to each letter as it reveals the letters corresponding to each portion of the secret message.

Things I Didn't Like

The rings and lanyards were very cheaply made. I wasn’t expecting anything over the top but I think they definitely could have had better quality.

Final Note

The Project MC2 Secret Message Decoder Rings and Necklace was a really cheap buy and offered a simple but fun way to play with siblings or friends. Even though it wasn’t of great quality and the rings were better as a necklace than an actual ring, I did like the set. I would have loved it as a kid and if your kid is into playing spy or sharing something special with a best friend, this is a good buy.
