I am a sucker for adorable learning toys. The Vtech Pull and Learn Alligator captured my heart with its multiple learning settings and the way he “chomps” and swings his head back and forth as he rolls along the floor.

Unboxing

My little alligator friend was packaged fairly simply. He had a few twist clips in the bottom of the package and once these were removed he lifted out of the packaging with little effort. The pull cord is threaded through the battery compartment on the bottom and is easily pulled out if your child is walking and intends to pull it behind them. It is also easily left for any smaller players that don’t need the pull cord yet.

The Playtime Experience

The Pull and Learn Alligator has 5 different learning settings and multiple “scale” buttons on his back, one for each letter of the alphabet. The different learning settings range from a strictly music oriented setting all the way to a search and find and “sounds like” type games. This toy certainly grows with many stages of a child’s learning and development. It teaches music, alphabet, phonetics and much more. The best part about pulling or pushing him around the floor is the way he swings his head side to side and opens and closes his mouth.

Things I Liked

My favorite part of this toy is its learning versatility and the head motions when he is pulled along the floor.

Things I Didn't Like

I felt that the pull cord was a little too short. Granted, this toy is for small children but it wasn’t quite long enough for my 18 month old son to pull along the floor comfortably, without pulling the toy slightly off the ground.

Appropriate Ages

Vtech recommends this toy for 18 months to 4 years of age. However, with the music feature I would say a child around 10-12 months would easily be able to enjoy some aspects of this toy. It will certainly grow with the child through that large age span because of the versatility of the learning settings.

Final Note

I recommend the Vtech Pull and Learn Alligator 100%. This toy has the best of all worlds from cute factor to learning value. I really think this toy will see years of play and stand up to the rough play of toddlers well.
