Vtech Touch and Learn Activity Desk Review (Very Interactive!)

I love education toys geared towards our youngest players. During the developmental ages, playing is the primary way kids explore and learn about their worlds. I had the chance to play with the Vtech Touch and Learn Activity Desk and can’t say enough good things about this toy.

Age Range: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 year olds

This is definitely a “some adult assembly required” type toy. The Vtech Touch and Learn Activity Desk Comes in a large box but everything is in separate pieces which must be put together before play time can begin. In the box is the Touch and Learn desktop, the table legs, 5 activity cards and a small sitting stool with its legs also separately bagged. The desk goes together very well without any extra tools or detailed instructions. It does require 4 AA batteries to start the Touch and Learn Desk. VTech Touch and Learn Activity Desk

The Playtime Experience

After installing the batteries and turning the Vtech Touch and Learn Activity Desk on, the desk can be placed in music or learning mode. In music mode the activity pages do not interact with your touch. The only interaction points on the front of the desk with numbers and the light up screen. The activity pages are only active in learning mode. Simply slide the activity page in place, the desk will recognize which page it is and let you interact with all the touch points. Things I Liked

I like the Touch and Learn Activity Desk a lot. The touch points are very responsive and there is a lot to learn with just the 5 included pages. I also discovered that for a minimal cost Vtech makes other pages you can buy to add to the fun. I like that a lot because it keeps this toy relevant for much longer.

Things I Didn't Like

I didn’t really see the point of the music mode. There isn’t much to interact with and enjoy in this mode and I can’t really see myself using it with my child.

Appropriate Ages

The Touch and Learn Activity Desk from Vtech is intended for use for children 2 and older. Primarily focus is on children 3-6 in that pre-k to kindergarten age range. My one year old really liked the desk and the little stool but the value isn’t there for him at this age since he can’t as easily retain and understand the learning information.

Final Note

I think it is great for learning and for play. I felt that the price point was very economical and I like that it stays economical even when buying the extra activity pages. Probably not as important, but worth noting anyway, this desk is extremely cute with its bright colors and little matchings stool. It also stores very nicely out of the way in between play sessions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k24Ue_-ZNuo (You may also like: VTech Busy Learners Activity Cube)
