Science-themes and hands on play type toys are going to be the fore-runners in popularity for the 2017 year. I have tried several science kits on my hunt for the best, grossest and slimiest kit of all time. The EduScience Wacky Lab Super Gross Science offered a unique feature that I hadn’t seen before. A working toilet mixer for the experiment.

Unboxing

The Wacky Lab Science kit was easy to get into and set up for play. Included in the kit was a toilet mixer complete with toilet sounds, instructions and several packets of ingredients. In order to do most of the experiments you will have to supply household items and some not so common/very specific grocery items.

The Playtime Experience

Playing with the EduScience kit is made a lot more fun with the working toilet mixer. I think this is a hilarious way to make the play experience more fun, plus it was easy to clean so that was a bonus. The experiments were not my favorite just because it required so much extra stuff. Some of it was so specific I was really surprised by it. This was a little disappointing because It would require a special trip to pick these things up and there was no indication of this until you are sitting down to read the experiment instructions. At least some of the other kits I played with had the shopping list on the front cover of the instruction manual for easy access. I was able to use the toilet mixer, baking soda and white vinegar to do an overflowing toilet experiment, which was fun!

Things I Liked

I liked the toilet mixer, it was funny and really unique and I have to give props to any toy maker that takes a flooded market and makes something totally unique to their kit.

Things I Didn't Like

I really didn’t like the instruction manual set up for finding which products I needed to purchase in addition to the kit. It wasn’t really clear and some of the items were super specific which was annoying.

Appropriate Ages

As with most of the science experiments this Super Gross Wacky Lab kit is recommended for science lovers over the age of 8.

Final Note

Although the EduScience Wacky Lab Super Gross Science had the most unique set up for mixing your experiments, it also had one of the more extensive shopping lists. I would really like to see some of these kits have the shopping list on the side of the box for once, that way I can get the stuff while I am in the store. I feel like waiting until you have it open and reading the experiment instructions is a really great way to set kids of for disappointment. They look forward to doing the experiment only to find that they can’t today because mommy doesn’t have some special gelatin mix or evaporated milk laying around. All in all, if you can handle the extra shopping this was a cute science kit with several entertaining experiments.
