WowWee COJI The Coding Robot Toy (Great for kids of all ages!)

Unboxing

I had no problems unboxing the COJI Robot. With the removal of a couple pieces of tape I was able to pull COJI and his instruction manuals from the package with ease. To fully enjoy COJI you will need to download the corresponding app from WowWee to your Apple or Android device and install his 3 AAA batteries.

The Playtime Experience

COJI can interact in small ways before you start the app, but the entertainment doesn’t last very long. Once the app is downloaded and you connect to COJI using a Bluetooth connection however, there are lots of things to do! The WowWee COJI The Coding Robot Toy walks you through understanding what codes, commands and sequences are and how you use them to interact with him. COJI’s “code” is emoji’s so it is a fun way for kids to learn how computers and robots respond to commands by recognizing patterns and command series. You can play games, talk with COJI back and forth (using emoji’s), driving COJI like an RC toy and much more.

Things I Liked

I like that this toy is educating kids on technology and computers in a way that is almost imperceptible. While education toys are usually a huge bonus for us as parents, they aren’t always fun for our kids. I think COJI is great at teach without seeming like and education driven toy.

Things I Didn't Like

I actually really enjoyed my play time with the COJI Robot. I wish he were rechargeable instead of requiring batteries however.

Appropriate Ages

The WowWee COJI The Coding Robot Toy is recommended for players 4 and older. I like that this caters to both a younger and older age group equally. While your 4 year old may not understand the concepts of coding and the education portions of this toy. They can enjoy interacting with COJI and watching him respond with the Emoji’s. While your older child will get the full benefit of the learning and playtime experience.

Final Note

I found the WowWee COJI The Coding Robot Toy to be budget, kid and parent friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this toy again. It isn’t often I come across toys that cater to younger and older children equally and I love that COJI does such a great job of this.
